What Makes A Moment?

As we begin our 7th year of shooting weddings, we’ve been looking back on all of the many, many weddings have been privileged to be a part of. (Not to forget the very first wedding we shot 9 years ago, all 35mm film, and where Cat broke Mike’s best camera on the first roll of film, missed the kiss and vowed to NEVER do it again!)

Over the last few weeks we’ve thought a lot about what our photography is all about, and realized as our name says it really is the MOMENTS. We have captured literally tens of thousands of these magical moments over the years, and look forward to capturing more.

Yolanda & Eli’s Venetian Room Wedding

Yolanda & Eli’s Venetian Room Wedding

Yolanda and Eli came to us as a recommendation from one of our favorite event planners, The Red Carpet Bridal & Event Boutique.  We last saw Yolanda and Eli on a cold, blustery, wet Winter day when we photographed their engagement session, and had been waiting in anticipation for their Summer wedding day to arrive!  We started the day at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church in East Point, where the Bride, Bridesmaids, Groom, and Groomsmen were all preparing for the ceremony.   While Yolanda was preceeded down the isle by many beautiful bridesmaids, she was stunning in her dress from Winnie Couture and beaming as she made her appearance for the man of her dreams!  The ceremony was beautiful and touching, and with the formalities over, we all headed down the road for the Venetian Room reception in downtown Atlanta.

While the evening summer heat was sizzling, it did not compete with the party getting underway inside the Venetian Room!  The Bride and Groom made their grand entrance down the beautiful staircase into the reception and were showered with flower petals from the bridesmaid’s bouquets while Yolanda and Eli commenced with their first dance to kick off the night.  The party was in full swing even before dinner, and rolled on into the evening.  After parent dances, cake cutting, bouquet toss, garter toss, toasts, bananas foster, and Yolanda’s surprise re-entrance into the reception for Eli in her “wedding gown converted to party dress”, dancing and fun were had by all.  Yolanda and Eli’s sparkler exit finished out the evening.

We hope you enjoy these pictures that highlight the evening and be sure to watch their slide show below!

Kudos

Favorite Friday: Twinkle Lights & Flower Girls

Being a photographer it’s really (REALLY!) hard to pick favorite images….  I have so many from each shoot that it is hard to narrow them down for the gallery much less a couple of images for our portfolio.   Last year I started participating in an on-line competition and was excited to be included among their best photographers of 2011.

Amanda & David’s Marietta Wedding

Amanda & David’s Marietta Wedding

Amanda was one of those brides that you just love from the start!  When she first contacted us back in the snowy days of winter about her August wedding, you just know that this is someone you want to work with.  Amanda had a list of questions about wedding photography and it seemed like we talked for hours having fun going through all the different topics.  Needless to say, we were excited when Amanda and David booked us!  We had a blast on their engagement session at UGA in Athens, and were anxiously awaiting their wedding day!

It was a beautiful summer day as we headed to Marietta Conference Center Hotel to meet up with Amanda and her bridesmaids.  We always love the “getting ready” time, as the fun, laughter, and building anticipation of the day generate such energy and emotion.  While Courtney from Impulse Beauty took care of makeup, we captured the girls having fun and going through their transformation to wedding day gorgeousness!  We then headed over to McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church  for the final getting ready and to meet up with David and his groomsmen.   This would be a special wedding as David and most of the groomsmen would be dressed in their dress blues planned to incorporate some of the Army wedding traditions.

The ceremony was just as beautiful as we imagined it would be, as the stained glass backdrop provided a gorgeous setting for Amanda and David to exchange their vows!  After an exit through the saber arch, a kiss, and a “welcome to the Army ma’am”, we finished up the family pictures and were off to the Marietta Conference Center for the reception.  Cocktail hour was just finishing up as we arrived for David and Amanda’s grand entrance to kick off the evening festivities.  The evening commenced through first dances, dinner, cake cutting and toasts, then the dance floor was hopping till the end of the night!

Amanda and David, we really enjoyed your wedding day and spending time with your family and friends!  Below are a few pictures from your day and be sure to watch the  slide show!
